FiveM Anticheat Not Working? Diagnose Why Cheaters Get In
FiveM anticheat not working? Diagnose why cheaters still get through: outdated builds, log-only config, unvalidated server events and returning ban evaders.

If your FiveM anticheat is not working, the cause is usually one of seven things: it is not running or current, an artifact update broke the install, detections are set to log only or the player is exempt, the "cheat" is an unvalidated server event, the behaviour is outside coverage, a new cheat build has not been detected yet, or a banned player has returned. Work through the seven checks below in order, cheapest to confirm first, before you decide the tool itself is broken.
This guide is for server owners. Players seeing an anticheat error on someone else's server should contact that server's staff. Not sure the player is cheating yet? Start with the warning signs of a cheater. We build FairShieldAC, so its documentation and changelog supply the examples below; the checks apply to any anticheat.
Detection is one link in a longer chain. How a FiveM anticheat detects cheats only matters if the resource is running and current, configured to act, pointed at a behaviour it can observe, and backed by bans that hold. Your job is finding the link that broke.
The seven checks when your FiveM anticheat is not working
- Running and current: the resource started, the licence validated, the version is the latest.
- Artifact build: the server build is supported and the install survived the last update.
- Enforcement: detections are set to act, and the player is not exempt.
- Server-side gaps: the suspected cheat is really an unvalidated event or economy handler.
- Coverage: the behaviour sits inside what the anticheat claims to detect.
- Detection window: a new cheat build has not been picked up yet.
- Ban evasion: the player was banned before and has come back.
The first three sit on your side and take minutes. The fourth belongs to whoever writes your scripts. Only five and six are purely about detection.
Check 1: Is the anticheat actually running, licensed and current?
Start with the boring answer: a resource that failed to start detects nothing. FairShieldAC's install guide starts it with ensure FairShieldAC in server.cfg and tells you to look for Anti-cheat system initialized successfully! in the console. If that line is missing, look for a licence error. The documented codes include LICENSE_INVALID, LICENSE_EXPIRED, CONNECTION_FAILED and IP_MISMATCH.
Then check the version, even with an auto-updater. The FairShieldAC changelog added one on 16 December 2025, yet the 6 January 2026 entry says "you need to download the latest version from the website", and on 20 June 2026 all customers had to download new files. Whatever you run, compare it against the vendor's latest entry. For what changed release by release, see FairShieldAC's 2026 anticheat updates.
If a vendor's changelog has gone silent and support no longer answers, you are facing a replacement decision. Our best FiveM anticheat comparison is the place to start.
Check 2: Is the artifact build current, and did an update break the install?
Cfx does not force a new server build on you. Its end-of-support policy says outdated artifacts "will not stop functioning, however, we will not provide support for them." A server can keep running an old build long after the resources around it, your anticheat included, have moved on.
Updating can break things too. FiveM's resource sandbox blocks writing files to another resource, returning error code 13, Permission denied. FairShieldAC's install guide notes the sandbox blocks its installer on the latest artifacts, documents an alternative method, and says: "Run it again whenever you add or update a resource." After any update, search the console for Permission denied, and treat newly added scripts as a possible blind spot until the install step is re-run. The artifacts guide covers when to update.
Check 3: Why is my FiveM anticheat not banning anyone?
Detections with no bans is a configuration question first. Log-and-review while tuning false positives is sensible, but easy to leave on. The setup guide covers tuning; here, confirm what each category is set to do. On FairShieldAC, the web panel sets the detection level from Low ("fewer false positives") to High ("may have more alerts"), and Anti Trigger gained a logs-or-ban setting on 30 April 2026. If you rely on txAdmin bans, its ban-check-on-join option warns "txAdmin bans will not work if this option is disabled."
Next, check exemptions. ACE principals inherit through add_principal, so a player added to a group that inherits from another can pick up a bypass granted to that parent group, and test_ace confirms what a principal is allowed. txAdmin's player mode permission lets staff toggle NoClip, God Mode or Superjump, so an account doing impossible things undetected may be exempt staff, or a compromised staff account.
Check 4: Is it really a cheat, or an unvalidated server event?
This case looks most like FiveM anticheat failure and has least to do with the anticheat. If a server event hands out money or items based on what the client sends, a player can abuse it with little a detection engine would recognise as a cheat. The Cfx server security guide warns that "Cheats can allow the client to trigger events in any context", and that adding checks on server events is good practice, "although it doesn't prevent everything."
The tell is in your economy logs: a balance jumps and the detection log stays empty. Framework money functions such as QBCore's AddMoney are server-side player functions, so the handler deciding the amount is where validation belongs. Log the triggering player in every handler that grants value; the events docs note source is only guaranteed valid for the initial event call, so save it to a local variable.
FairShieldAC's encrypted, shuffled event triggers are built to stop server-event spoofing, but they are no substitute for validating what a handler grants. The Lua executor guide lists the handler mistakes to look for, and vetting scripts before install keeps new ones out.
Check 5: Is the behaviour outside what your anticheat covers?
A behaviour your FiveM anticheat has never once flagged may sit outside the tool's scope, so compare it with the vendor's published coverage before calling it a miss. Read the changelog entries for the module matching your symptom, then ask your vendor and add server-side checks for anything out of scope.
Check 6: Is it a new cheat build that has not been detected yet?
When something your FiveM anticheat used to catch starts slipping through and checks one to three are clean, suspect a detection window. FairShieldAC's 21 July 2026 entry, "Improved Anti Ped/Vehicle Spawn (patched new method)", shows that cycle. Moderate manually meanwhile, send the vendor a full evidence package, and read how detection holds up across cheat updates.
Check 7: Is a banned player simply coming back?
A banned player reappearing under a new name means the original detection worked and the ban did not hold. In txAdmin, confirm Required Ban HWID Matches is enabled and not relaxed, remembering its warning that hardware ID tokens "are not guaranteed to be unique". FairShieldAC adds a global ban network with HWID and cross-server bans screened at connect, Members Lookup for manual admin pre-screening, and a Trust Score added in beta on 11 July 2026. None of that makes evasion impossible; the HWID bans guide covers bans that hold.
Symptom table: FiveM anticheat not detecting or not banning
| Symptom | Likely cause | How to confirm | Fix |
|---|---|---|---|
| No detections at all, even for obvious behaviour | Anticheat not started, licence failure, or install blocked | Boot console: startup message, licence error codes, Permission denied lines | Fix the licence or IP, follow the vendor's current install steps, restart the resource |
| Detections stopped after a server or artifact update | Sandbox blocking the install, or anticheat version behind | Console errors after the update; installed version against the latest changelog entry | Re-download or re-run the install per vendor docs; move to a supported artifact |
| Newly added scripts seem unprotected | Install step not re-run after resource changes (documented for FairShieldAC) | Compare resource change dates with the last install run | Re-run the install step after adding or updating resources |
| Detections logged but nobody is banned | Category set to log, low detection level, or txAdmin ban checking off | Vendor panel settings; txAdmin ban settings | Set enforcement deliberately per category; enable ban checking on join |
| Specific players never flag | Inherited bypass permission, over-broad whitelist, or staff menu powers | test_ace on the principal; txAdmin Admin and Server Logs | Narrow groups and whitelists; audit and secure staff accounts |
| Money or items appear with no detection | Unvalidated server event or economy handler | Economy log timeline matched to the source player logged in the handler | Server-side validation of every value a handler grants |
| One behaviour class has never flagged | Outside documented coverage, or module pulled for rework | Vendor coverage claims and changelog | Ask the vendor; add server-side checks meanwhile |
| A behaviour that used to be caught now is not | New cheat build inside the detection window | Checks 1 to 3 clean; recent vendor re-patches | Manual moderation plus an evidence package to the vendor |
| Banned player back under a new name | Ban evasion, or HWID matching relaxed or disabled | Identifier overlap with earlier bans; txAdmin HWID setting | Restore HWID matching; ban on all stored identifiers |
What to send your anticheat vendor when a cheater gets through
"Your anticheat missed someone" gives a vendor nothing to test. Export evidence before it rotates: txAdmin stores logs in its txData profile and, by default, rotates server and console logs daily, keeping seven files. Collect:
- Exact timestamps, with timezone.
- Player name, server ID and every identifier from the join line.
- Artifact build and branch, anticheat version and detection level.
- Whether any detection fired, with detection or ban IDs.
- Console excerpts, including licence errors or Permission denied lines.
- txAdmin Server Log excerpts: joins, explosions, menu events, commands.
- Timestamped clips and screenshots as supporting evidence.
- Recent resource, whitelist or permission changes.
The cheater report workflow covers how staff gather and grade evidence. FairShieldAC customers can send the package through a support ticket in the FairShieldAC Discord or to [email protected].
The honest limit: no FiveM anti cheat catches everything
Run all seven checks and some cheaters will still get through. Cfx's own security guide admits of its platform anticheat that "sometimes things slip through", and every third-party tool, FairShieldAC included, shares that ceiling. This sequence makes sure the misses you escalate are genuine detection gaps backed by evidence, after configuration and script causes are ruled out. FiveM anticheat not working: FAQ
Should I test my FiveM anti cheat with a real cheat?
No. Obtaining a cheat means running untrusted software on your own machine and account, and one cheat build says little about the next. Confirm the anticheat is running, current and set to enforce, then report real incidents with timestamps, identifiers and log excerpts.
Can a player get money without a cheat my anticheat can detect?
Yes, if a server event or economy handler trusts values sent by the client. Detection can stay quiet because the grant runs through a registered server event. The fix is server-side validation: decide amounts from server-side data and log the triggering player.
Is a banned cheater coming back a detection failure?
Treat it as a ban-enforcement gap. Confirm HWID bans are enabled and not relaxed, ban on every stored identifier, and use cross-server ban data where your anticheat offers it.
Should I switch anticheats if cheaters keep getting through?
Rule out checks one to four first, because a new product inherits the same unvalidated events, exemptions and outdated artifacts. Switch when evidence-backed reports go unanswered or the vendor's changelog shows no ongoing work.
