In our experience running anti-cheat for FiveM servers, the subscriptions we see go wrong are rarely the ones that fail on day one. They are the ones that work for a while and then quietly stop catching anything, because detection was pinned to what a cheat build looked like rather than what a cheater does.

What promising has to mean before you place a multi-year bet

Adequate means it catches what is circulating this week. Promising means the approach survives a cheat rebuild, a new mod menu family, a Saturday peak while the vendor sleeps. Four questions decide it.

  • Does it survive a rebuild? Hash and file-level signature matching breaks as soon as a cheat is recompiled, and even pattern-based signatures decay with each rebuild. Behavioural analysis degrades more gracefully because it measures what a player does, not what a file looks like.
  • Does it get stronger as the network grows? A ban protecting only the server that issued it is a local fix. A ban screened at connect across every protected server compounds.

  • What happens when the vendor is asleep? Detection that updates only when a human notices a new cheat is a support ticket with a subscription attached.

  • Trust model. Ask which detections are authoritative on the server. Cfx's server security docs are blunt that client-side checks can be overridden, so a product letting the client decide guilt is weak.
  • Network-silent cheats. Ask how it sees ESP. Rendering-only cheats such as wallhack overlays produce no distinctive server traffic, so a server-only product has very little to detect them with; see server-side vs client-side.
  • Durability. Ask for a dated public changelog, not a promise about update frequency. A shipping record you can read is evidence.
  • Performance. Ask for a range with a ceiling, then reproduce it in resmon, FiveM's built-in resource monitor.
  • Evidence. Ask what artefact accompanies a ban, and whether you could justify it to a paying player who insists it is wrong.
  • Network effects, and their downside. Ask what happens on a false positive. Cfx's resource FAQ lists global ban lists among resources it wants to avoid, stating it has 'no way to verify the quality of every anticheat' and that a bad ban leaves players 'unable to join a large number of servers without sufficient reason'. Any vendor running a cross-server network, us included, owes you an answer to that objection.
  • Vendor liveness. Ask what happens at 3am on a Sunday. Automated enforcement plus alerting into your Discord is an answer; a ticket queue is not.
  • Exit cost. Ask what you keep if you cancel: ban history, licence portability, dashboard record.

There is a ninth question, and it is aimed at you. Hardening the server first - entity lockdown, event validation, OneSync server authority - is what makes the anti-cheat layer worth paying for; bolted onto an unhardened server it sells a feeling rather than a boundary.

FairShieldAC runs hybrid: client- and server-side heuristics run together. The client layer sees what only the client can see, such as Lua executors, mod menus and ESP, while server-side behavioural analysis weighs movement and state anomalies like godmode, noclip and teleport, along with event abuse. Encrypted, shuffled event triggers make server-event spoofing harder.

Every player is screened against the global ban network at connect. Separately, for whitelist and application workflows, members lookup is a manual tool your staff can run against a Discord ID or Steam profile before you approve someone. Reproduce it in resmon; being able to check matters more than the number.

Detection is heuristic, so it keeps working when a mod menu ships a new build - the mechanism is in detecting cheaters even after updates. Where FairShieldAC is young, and what it does not do

FairShieldAC was founded in 2025, and that cuts both ways. A young product has less battle-testing and a shorter public record; an established one has had longer to be leaked and reverse-engineered. Neither fact settles it. We publish the list below because naming your own limits gives a buyer something to check.

  • No independent benchmark exists. Our figures are self-measured. Treat every vendor number, ours included, as unverified until you reproduce it.
  • The deep scan is one layer, not the whole shield. It inspects the local machine for injectors and memory hooks and shares only an encrypted verdict back to the server. It sits alongside the continuous client- and server-side detection rather than replacing it.
  • No published false-positive rate or appeals policy. Ask us before you commit rather than after.
  • It is not DDoS protection. Volumetric and application-layer attacks are absorbed upstream by Gravity, our separate DDoS protection layer.
  • It does not replace server-side discipline. Entity lockdown, validated events and server-authoritative economy logic remain your job.

What about cheats that never touch the game process?

Two directions we get asked about, with no prevalence data either way: cheats that read and act on game state from outside the game process, and mod menus tuned to behave more like a plausible human. Both are bad news for signature matching - there is no file or memory pattern left to match.
